8 october 2024 : On Tuesday, the Congress accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of slowing down the update of assembly election results on its website.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “Similar to the Lok Sabha elections, we are again seeing a slowdown in updating trends on the ECI website in Haryana. Is the BJP trying to pressure the administration by sharing outdated and misleading trends?”
Congress leader Pawan Khera told ANI that there is a discrepancy between the actual number of counted rounds and what is being shown on TV through ECI data. He pointed out that while 11 rounds had been counted, the EC data was still displaying results from the 4th or 5th round.
Khera added, “Our General Secretary Communications has questioned the Election Commission about whether delaying the display and uploading of data is a tactic to pressure local administration. In Jammu and Kashmir, live updates are being provided after each round, but this is not the case in Haryana.”
Haryana Election Results
The ECI data shows the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on track to form the government in Haryana for the third time, leading in 50 out of 90 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress, hoping to regain power after a decade, is leading in 35 seats. Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda expressed confidence, stating that Congress will form the government with a majority and credited party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, for their efforts.
Jammu and Kashmir Election Results
According to the ECI, the Congress-National Conference alliance is leading in 43 out of 90 seats, while the BJP is ahead in 26 constituencies.
