16 september 2024 : Singer Rahul Vaidya and his wife, actress Disha Parmar, are both battling dengue. Vaidya recounted, “I traveled to Pune on September 1, and I’m sure I got bitten by a mosquito there. By the time symptoms appeared, it was the fifth night.”
He described his experience, saying, “I had an extremely high fever, felt cold, and was shivering uncontrollably. Those five days were the worst of my life. I wouldn’t wish this illness on anyone, not even my enemies. The weakness was so severe that I couldn’t get out of bed for four days.”
Vaidya shared that Disha, who traveled with him, also contracted the illness. “We are both on the road to recovery, but it will still take some time. We’re dealing with significant weakness, continuing our medication, eating light foods, and avoiding workouts. I had an event commitment that required a brief travel, otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to manage. Our platelets are low, and we’re regularly monitoring them with blood tests and treatment.”
Their daughter Navya is safe at home, as she didn’t travel to Pune. “Navya is doing well; fortunately, she didn’t come to Pune as we had originally planned. Her grandparents and helpers are taking care of her. She’s a quiet, independent child and doesn’t need constant attention. She plays happily on her own.”
Vaidya expressed his disappointment at missing Ganesh Chaturthi, his favorite festival. “We were bedridden throughout the festival. My mom took care of everything—prasad, guests, and the celebration. My friends even managed the visarjan. I felt very upset missing out on something I love so much,” he concluded.
