12 september 2024 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while calling for investment in the domestic production of semiconductors, emphasized today that strong supply chains are crucial for economic stability. He expressed the government’s ambition to have Indian chips in every device worldwide. Semiconductors are the backbone of modern technology, found in everything from smartphones to electric vehicles and AI-based products.
Addressing the national “Semicon-2024” conference, Modi noted that the global COVID-19 pandemic made everyone realize the critical importance of supply chains. He stressed the need to take measures to handle any future crises. The pandemic caused significant disruptions in global supply chains, and Modi emphasized the importance of supply chain resilience and strength. He mentioned that India is working to establish supply chains across different sectors of the economy.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted his reform-oriented government, stable policies, and the market that has utilized technology to create a strong foundation for investment in semiconductor manufacturing. He told industry leaders that “this is the right time to be in India,” adding, “Today’s India assures the world that when situations are uncertain, you can bet on India.” He reiterated, “Our dream is to see Indian-made chips in every device in the world, and we will make every possible effort to make India a semiconductor superpower.”
