4 september 2024 : Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur recently experienced a touch of “FOMO” (fear of missing out) when he noticed he wasn’t featured in any Instagram posts from his granddaughter’s birthday party. This moment made him briefly consider joining social media. However, Kapur, known for his roles in TV series like “Karamchand” and “Office Office,” as well as films such as “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro,” “Ek Doctor Ki Maut,” and “Maqbool,” describes himself as a private person who prefers to keep to himself.
Kapur, the father of actor Shahid Kapoor, reflected on his absence from social media during his granddaughter Misha’s recent birthday. “It was my granddaughter’s birthday, and there were a lot of Instagram posts, but I was nowhere to be seen. I missed being a part of that Instagram business. But, I am a very private person and like to keep to myself,” he said.
The actor, who will next appear in the film “Binny and Family” alongside debutante Anjini Dhawan, admitted that while he contemplates joining social media, he hasn’t yet had the courage to take the plunge. He relies on his children to stay updated with current trends. “Children like Anjini and my children help me understand what’s happening around,” he added.
Kapur describes “Binny And Family” as a family drama exploring relationships across three generations. He plays the role of a grandfather to Anjini’s character, Binny, and believes the film will resonate with audiences. “It’s a story everyone can relate to—about the dynamics between grandparents and grandchildren, their interdependence, and the need for the older generation to understand the younger one’s perspectives,” he shared.
Speaking fondly of his grandchildren, Misha and Zain, Kapur noted the evolving dynamics in their relationship as they grow up, but emphasized that the emotional bond between a grandparent and a grandchild remains unchanged. “One tries to keep up with the times to provide for them, instead of staying in the past,” he remarked.
Kapur praised Anjini, the granddaughter of veteran actor Anil Dhawan and niece of Varun Dhawan, for her performance in the film. “She was prepared and knew what she was doing,” he said. “I believe the younger generation knows more than the older one, so I encouraged her to follow what feels right in her heart.”
Produced by Mahaveer Jain Films & Wave Band Productions, “Binny And Family” is set to release on September 20 and also stars Rajesh Kumar, Himani Shivpuri, and Charu Shankar.
