May 30 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The District Education Officer (Secondary Education) has issued a letter to the heads of all the schools in the district and has instructed the admission committees of the schools that if any student comes to take admission in the school till 30th June during the summer vacation, then his admission should be ensured. Admission of any student should not be withdrawn.
The school should ensure to send a report to the district office about how many students have taken admission every week and how much has been the increase in enrollment. On the other hand, this decision is being opposed by the teachers. Teachers of different schools said that such guidelines are being issued daily by the District Education Officer, which do not match the situation and under the guise of these guidelines, such duties are assigned to the teachers by the school heads, which do not benefit the school in any way, but on the contrary become a cause of trouble for the teachers.
He said that the Punjab government has announced holidays in schools till 30th June. Due to this, government as well as private schools are closed. Due to the scorching heat, all activities related to children have been stopped in schools. During this time, parents and children are well aware that the admission work will now be done only after the holidays and classes will also start after the holidays. During this time, such guidelines being issued by the D.E.O. are only increasing the problems of teachers.
Most employees are on election duty
Teachers said that most of the employees of all schools are on duty for the Lok Sabha elections to be held on June 1 across the state. Some of these teachers are posted on this duty for the last 1 to 3 months and this posting has been done after the order of the District Education Officer himself and despite knowing all this, it is wrong for the D.E.O. to harass teachers for admission during holidays.
