May 20 (Punjab Khabarnama) : In view of the scorching heat that has been occurring for the past few days, the timings of all schools in the city have been changed from 7 am to 12 noon. At the same time, holidays have been declared in evening shift schools from nursery to second class. There will be water bells thrice in schools, so that children can keep drinking water. Starting from morning prayer meetings, other activities have also been stopped. In schools running in the evening shift, the school administration will accommodate the children of classes 3rd to 5th by taking holidays from nursery to class 2 in the morning or online classes will be held.
According to the orders issued by the Education Department, evening shift teachers will also have to come to the morning shift. Due to the heat, this time summer holidays are being started in government schools from 23rd May. Children from classes 1 to 5 receive education in 20 government schools running in double shifts. Holidays for students of double shift and second class are starting from 20th May. At the same time, classes for the children of third, fourth and fifth classes should be adjusted in the morning shift. If this is not possible then online classes will have to be organised. Teachers working in the afternoon shift will have to come to school as per the morning shift.
Make bus routes in such a way that the child reaches home in less time.
Chandigarh Education Department Director Harsuhinderpal Singh Brar has ordered that these orders will be applicable to government, aided and private schools from 20th May i.e. Monday. Schools will not open before 7 am and will be closed at 12 noon. At the same time, teachers will have to come at 7:15 in the morning and stay in school till 1:15 in the afternoon. School managers must ensure that bus routes are planned in such a way that children can reach home in the shortest possible time. Children should not sit in parked school buses and vans for long. Caution must be exercised during this period. School buses and vans will have to be parked in a shady area. Drinking water and first aid kits should be available in buses and vans.

All fans in schools should be on. Apart from this, curtains and blinds can be used to prevent direct sunlight from coming into the room. ORS for treatment of mild heat-stroke in schools. Solugon, salt and sugar sachets should be available in the premises itself. Schools will have to keep in touch with the nearest hospital and doctor in case of heatstroke. Essengel Medical Kit should be available in the school. Food spoils quickly in summer, so mid-day meal should be prepared fresh and served. The in-charge and teacher will have to check before serving the food. It has to be ensured that fresh and healthy food is served in the canteen also.
