May 17 (Punjab Khabarnama) : A person died after being hit by a vehicle while walking in search of employment on Patiala Road on the National Highway passing through the local city. His companion Akshay Kumar, son of Balveer Singh, resident of Amritsar Hall, Bhawanigarh, who was accompanying the deceased Johnny, who was the victim of the accident, told in the complaint given to the police that he works at a dhaba.
On 13-05-2024, when he went to Ludhiana Railway Station, he met a person there who said that his name is Johnny and said that he has no family members and he keeps walking here and there and works there. Neither do I know the names of his parents etc. nor does he have any proof etc. and he needs employment, so out of pity he brought him along with him and said that he will run a dhaba but because earlier also he had worked in many dhabas in Bhawanigarh area. On 14-05-2024, when he and Joni were walking on foot in search of employment, an unknown driver on the National Highway, just before Honey Dhaba, allegedly hit Joni negligently with his vehicle. It was hit directly and taking advantage of the darkness, the driver of the unknown vehicle fled from the spot along with his vehicle.
In this accident, Johnny’s head hit the road and his legs were also broken. When Johnny was being taken to Civil Hospital Sangrur in an ambulance from the Highway Toll Plaza for treatment, he died on the way. Based on Akshay Kumar’s statements, the police have registered a case against the unknown driver and started further action.
