April 16 (Punjab Khabarnama) : A quarterly review meeting regarding the working of District Child Protection Unit Hoshiarpur and Child Welfare Committee Hoshiarpur was held today in District Administrative Complex Hoshiarpur under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner said that if any orphan, helpless child in the district needs protection and care, then the Child Welfare Committee can be contacted directly on phone number 01882-291839 or child helpline number 1098. Meanwhile, District Child Protection Officer Harpreet Kaur explained in detail about the stakeholders of the District Child Welfare and Protection Committee. In the meeting, the work of Government Homes, Child Welfare Committee and District Child Protection Unit was discussed.
Harpreet Kaur gave information about the action taken by the Child Welfare Committee and the District Child Protection Unit regarding the disposal of cases of children who are essential for protection and care, such as orphans, helpless, missing children, child marriage, children suffering from sexual abuse. Apart from this, discussions were held regarding the performance of village level child protection committees and block level child protection committees. Meanwhile, information was given about the facilities provided to the children living in the Homes by the Group Superintendent Homes.
Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Harjit Kaur, Member Juvenile Justice Board Rohit Sharma, Skill Development Project Officer Mohinder Singh Rana, Jaswinder Singh from District Legal Services Authority, Kulwinder Singh from Municipal Corporation, Nirmala Devi from Carmelite Social Services Hoshiarpur, DE (b) Vocational Coordinator Amrik Singh from the office, Medical Officer Dr. Rajinder Pal, Group Superintendent, Labor Inspector, Child Protection Department and entire staff of One Stop Center Hoshiarpur were present.
