On 10th and 11th February 2024 , as part of the series of fairs started in the state by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to promote the traditional and heritage fairs of the state to the country and the world and to further increase the interest of the people towards these fairs. A state level kite flying competition and Basant Mela is being organized under the theme ” Biggest Kite Player ” in Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University at Ferozepur . Kite knockout competitions will start from 5th February 2024, about which the contestants will be informed through a message . Men, women and children who wish to participate in the kite flying competitions can do their free registration on the website www.kitefestivalferozepur2024.in . This was revealed by the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Dhiman during a meeting with officials regarding the preparations for the state-level Basant Mela .

The Deputy Commissioner appointed the officers of all the departments and N. G. The representatives of Oz were given necessary guidelines for the successful conduct of the fair . Giving further information, he said that for the first time the Basant Mela is being celebrated at Ferozepur by the Punjab government and the district administration and he said that due to the efforts of Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Miss Anmol Gagan Mann, this fair has been made national and international. Efforts are being made to promote it at the level for which various kite flying competitions are being conducted on the occasion of Basant Mela. He said that during this fair, there will be different kinds of kite flying competitions and prizes of lakhs of rupees will be given to the first place winners. He said that the first place winner in the men’s kite flying competition will be given a prize of Rs 1 lakh and similarly the first place winner in the women’s kite flying competition will also be given a prize of Rs 1 lakh. He said that among boys and girls aged 10 to 18 years, the winners will be given prizes of 25 thousand rupees each. Apart from this, the winner of the NRI category kite competition will be given a prize of 51 thousand rupees.

He said that the most attractive competition in kite flying competitions will be the “biggest kite flying competition” and the winner of this competition will be awarded a prize of Rs 2 lakh. He said that there will be a complete ban on the use of China Door in these competitions by the Punjab government and the district administration, giving a message of moral responsibility towards the environment and life safety . Traditional food stalls will be installed in this fair and famous Punjabi singers will grace the fair through their songs . He appealed to the residents of the state to register as much as possible to participate in this fair.
